Thousands of Helping Hands – Embracing Harmony in Dallas
About the Charity Art Performance:
The art performance will honor Tzu Chi Dallas’ 25-year Bodhisattva journey, featuring an enchanting night with the world-renowned China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe(CDPPAT) and Tzu Chi volunteers. The program is based on the CDPPAT’s award-winning “My Dream,” an extraordinary set of performances centered on a dance presenting the omnipotent benevolence of the One-Thousand-Hands Bodhisattva. All the performances combine to convey the importance of universal and boundless Great Love, and to inspire us all to love a little more and give a little more of ourselves. Together, Tzu Chi Dallas and the CDPPAT present the beauty of compassion, the joy of a common dream, and the pursuit of hope.
About the Event and its Organizer:
Half a century ago, guided by a shared vision of relieving human suffering, thirty housewives in a small town in Taiwan began saving the equivalent of $0.02 a day in coin banks fashioned from bamboo, establishing the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation. Over the past 50 years, Tzu Chi’s mission and values have guided its volunteers to the forefront of disaster relief and poverty reduction efforts in more than 94 countries and regions.
Established in 1992, the Tzu Chi Dallas Chapter has been serving the needs of both the local and greater communities in North Texas for over 20 years. Located in Richardson since 2006, the Tzu Chi Dallas campus includes the Jing Si Cafe and Bookstore, the bilingual Great Love Preschool and Kindergarten, and the Tzu Chi Language Academy.
Since 2005, Dallas Chapter has donated more than 75,000 uniforms to students from disadvantaged families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In addition to distributing school uniforms, the Dallas Chapter is part of the Texas VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) and provides disaster relief to those in need around the state.
In honor of our 25-year milestone, Tzu Chi Dallas invites you to join us for the “Thousands of Helping Hands: Embracing Harmony in Dallas” charity art performance to support and inspire North Texas for years to come. Tiny drops of compassion form an endless ocean of love. Together, we have the power to change the world, uniting as one family to illuminate our lives with love.
About China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe:
Twenty years ago, a group of visually, hearing, or physically impaired children stepped onto a stage and began an incredible creative adventure. Their aim wasn’t to garner sympathy or become a curiosity, but to delight by revealing the unique potential inherent in everyone. The CDPPAT evolved into a professional troupe of performers, whose indomitable spirit and positive attitude to life are an inspiration and testament to how with unwavering will every challenge can be transformed, in this case becoming a work of art. Audiences around the globe are astonished and deeply touched by the troupe’s flawlessly synchronized movements and emotionally engaging gestures. These “messengers of beauty and humanity” have performed at the Paralympic Games, and been referred to as “UNESCO Artist for Peace” by the United Nations.
